An index of DC Comics variant editions at Dollar Tree stores

In March 2026, I noticed that a local Dollar Tree store had some recent DC Comics releases available for $1.25 each.  The comics were polybagged (in the same type of bags in which subscription copies are mailed) with the $1.25 price printed on the bag itself.  The comics were displayed in a blue cardboard stand near the front of the store (as shown in the photo below).  

I had known since early December 2024 that DC had made some comics available at Dollar Tree stores, and had seen YouTube videos where fans went looking for them (like this video, which I shared on my Facebook page on Dec. 7, 2024).  

On Dec. 18, 2024, I posted the following on Facebook: "DC For Me (But Not At Dollar Tree): Stopped at the local Dollar Tree today to see if they had any of the "new" (Rebirth-era reprints) DC comics, but no such luck. Actually I didn't really expect to find them, since I'd seen a few YouTube videos of other people going to their local Dollar Tree stores and not finding them either.  Not a huge loss, however, since my local comics shops have plenty of comics for that price in their dollar bins!"

On April 13, 2025, I shared on my Facebook page another video about the DC Dollar Tree comics. I wrote: "One of the things that I find interesting is that it seems whenever there is an attempt to get comic books into regular stores, the people who are enthusiastically buying them are usually collectors, not the new or casual reader that they are supposed to be reaching.  This was the case a few years ago when DC was putting out 100 Page comics as Walmart exclusives -- the people seeking them out were fans who were buying them because those editions weren't available at comics shops.  And it seems like a similar case with the current Dollar Tree issues from DC.  Hopefully it brings in some new readers, but I kinda doubt it.  I'll probably pick up that Batman & Robin #1 (current series) if I see it at Dollar Tree, though."

As it happens, I never did buy one of these comics prior to March 2026 -- probably because I didn't see an issue in the store that was appealing to me. The selection of issues being offered was mostly from the "Rebirth" era of the late 2010s, which held no interest for me.

What caught my attention in March 2026 was that now there were more recent releases being offered, such as "All In"-era issues of "Supergirl" and "Batgirl" that had come out only a year or two before.  

What's unusual is that these issues are not just bagged copies of unsold comics (like I have seen at other discount stores like Ollie's) but are in fact newly-printed reprints produced especially for Dollar Tree and other such outlets.  

I have referred to these issues as Dollar Tree comics, but they have been found in the United States and Canada at other stores as well, usually with higher prices printed on the bags.  Circle K convenience store/gas stations have been the most frequently cited alternate source in online discussions about them.  Another convenience store/gas station chain called Cumberland Farms has also been said to carry them.  One fan reported seeing them at Schnucks Grocery Store in Indiana, priced at $2.98 each.  

Most of the Dollar Tree issues have a red $1.25 price tag, but on eBay there are examples of the same issues in bags marked with yellow $3.29 price tags, and green $3.99 tags.  In Canada, Dollarama stores have them stickered with a $2 tag. Sets of the issues have been sold together under the name "DC Comics Heroic Vault" at T. J. Maxx department stores, for a much higher price than buying them individually at Dollar Tree.

As I explained in the video, there are a few minor differences between these new editions and the original issues that they reprint.  In general, the Dollar Tree versions are thinner (printed on thinner paper stock), have an ad for DC Universe Infinite on their back covers and have new indicias to reflect the fact that they are not the exact same comic.  Originally these Dollar Tree versions had different UPC barcode numbers than the issues they were reprinting, but in the most recent March 2026 wave, most of them had the same UPC number as the original.

And that brings us to the other important thing to know about these comics: they have been released in various "waves," usually spread a few months apart.  My information about these waves are mainly from three sources:

- The CGC Comics message board thread titled "Dollar Tree Comics / Reprints" which was started in May 2025:

- The Club CLZ message board thread titled "Dollar Tree / Circle K new editions" which was started in July 2025:
This thread provided most of my information about the third and fourth waves (including cover images).

- The Grand Comics Database (GCD) entries for them, which can be found by using the keyword link for Topaz Distribution (the distributor of the comics, whose logo can be found in the indicias of the comics themselves).  That link goes to an alphabetical list of the issues, but you can sort them chronologically there by clicking the "year" link.  Each issue is listed as its own series there, since these issues are all standalone one-shots, all of which are a "first issue."

The GCD entries for these issues are pretty bare-bones (at the time of this writing) although I have tried to help by creating entries for some of the new March 2026 issues that I have in my possession.  (For example, you can find my entries for Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 (2026 Edition) and Batman Year Two #1 (2026 Edition) by clicking those links.)

So, without further ado, here's my attempt at an index of these comics.  I will show the covers of the issues of the various waves, as well as a text list of the issues released as part of that wave (linking to the GCD entry of the issue).  The graphics used below for the first two waves are modifications that I made to a graphic someone else had posted on Facebook in June 2025. (You can see their original post here.)  The graphics that I made for the third and fourth waves use the cover images that were posted on the aforementioned Club CLZ message board.  I made the graphic for the March 2026 wave using a combination of cover scans I made, photos I took in the stores and cover images that I found online.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available and more "waves" of comics are released.  The most recent update to this post was on April 7, 2026.
